Description: The Board of Postsecondary Institutions (BPI), ascribed to the PR Department of State, specializes in attending to the processes of granting Authorization Licenses and Renewal Licenses to Basic Education Institutions (BEI) and Higher Education Institutions (HEI), as well as to attend to the accreditations that have been requested by the BEI.The BPI is also responsible for issuing certifications that validate the degrees conferred by the authorized education institutions through the Puerto Rico Board of Education License, at the request of the citizen or the interested entity. On the other hand, it attends the institutions called Church-Schools under the protection of Law Number 82 of 1985.The licensing requirement is mandatory for both private and public educational institutions. On the other hand, the accreditation process is voluntary for Private Education Institutions and mandatory for Public Basic Education Institutions belonging to the Puerto Rico Department of Education.Feature class displays all licenced postsecondary institutions during the 2018-2019 school year.
